Olivia's Bistro

Friends told us about this place. Easy to find with good parking. Great decor. Interesting drink and food menu. We ordered the Salmon and the Fungi pasta. Both were excellent. Right portion size. Fantastic taste and presentation.We'll be back. Great service and awesome taste.

Nice ambience and good food options. All dishes tasted a little over seasoned (salty) but not too much to ruin it completely. Tables are a little too close together but overall a nice place to go.

Maybe we had too high expectations but we were quite disappointed. The atmosphere is very nice and the prices are definitely on the higher end. The food is not terrible, the ingredients seem fresh and are very simply prepared but the flavors are really nothing special. The pasta Bolognese is so underwhelming, totally mushy overcooked and the sauce tasted like canned tomatoes and ground beef thrown together in 10 minutes. We were really hoping we had found our new Italian date night neighborhood spot...

Had a great time, food was very good and service great and very friendly. Lost a star because cocktails could have been made more professionaly. Old fashions should be strained over a single big ice cube, especially if listed on their cocktail menue.

I was very excited when this Bistro opened up near my house. It has not disappointed at all any number of times I've gone there to eat. Everything is delicious, and the staff is super attentive.

Amazing food and service. I

Really 4.5 stars. The food was excellent. We just wished the entree portion size was just a little more. I had the braised duck ravioli-esque dish and wanted a couple more. My date had the stuffed eggplant and was also wanting just a bit more.

Excellent spot for dinner right in the heart of Nonantum (a Burrough of Newton). Went here for dinner with friends and had an overall excellent time. The food was amazing and the service was top notch. The restaurant space itself is also stunning and there is a really nice separate bar area. Highly recommend this spot!

We really enjoyed our experience at Olivia’s! Went for my moms birthday and the waiter was more than accommodating. He even gave us a free dessert at the end of the meal for her birthday. We were also given several refills of bread. We had a delicious pasta dish, salmon, cod and the mussels as an appetizer. Several people have written that the flavor of the food isn’t great but I thought all of the dishes were well seasoned and had great mixes of food. For a newer restaurant, we really enjoyed, had great food and had a great time at dinner! Next time we will have to try the drinks.

The food is delicious! We enjoy the salmon, meatballs, flatbreads and the wine! The entire menu is fantastic. The staff are friendly with prompt polite service and the proprietors (Jessica and Dessy) are happy, kind,& gracious. Jessica and Dessy are onsite. You can really tell the difference when the owners run a restaurant. We feel like we are at home and surrounded by friends when we visit Olivia's. The owners and servers know our names! We now invite all our friends and are enjoying take out. 5 +++ Stars! Highly recommend.

My son took me here. Had short rib ravioli.....it was stella! Also tried the steak and truffle fries which was another dish to die for.

Service was amazing by Donna, Atmosphere was brilliant, food was fantastic, Soo happy this restaurant has opened right beside me,We had our food and drinks so quickly ...and the energy with all the staff was Awesome you can tell everyone loves working their ☺️Very well run 👏👏👏

I love the ambience. It’s chatty and vibrant here but it goes with the environment! This place gives you a north end vibe outside of the city. The staff are extremely prompt, attentive, and courteous. The food is delicious and you can tell it’s made from scratch. It also comes out piping hot hence the attentiveness of the staff. We want to try everything on the menu so we will certainly be back many many many more times!

Dined at Olivia's last night with a friend - it has been a long time since I have been in a restaurant that hits 5 star rating for environment, layout, ambiance and cleanliness and 10+ for the food and beverage. We had mussels, braised chicken with brussels sprouts and pizza. House wines were great. Thank you to Donna who looked after us so well - I will definitely be back and highly recommend for couples, singles and families!

Sorry, my chicken was undercooked when I got it home. I would never eat there again at least not for take out. And plus there were some bugs flying around at the bar

Consistently yummy Italian food, with lots of vegan and gluten free options. We could not tell if the vegan cheese was not real cheese. It was that good!

After a poor first visit due to service, I received an email asking us to come back, and I am so glad we accepted. The food was amazing as expected but the atmosphere was even better.the staff here is exceptional. I'm glad to have come again and can't wait for our next visit. Thank you, Olivia's!!

Everything about this restaurant is yummy - the food, of course, the service, the friendliness of the managers/owners(?), the ambiance. Probably one of my favorite restaurants.

I absolutely love this restaurant! The food is amazing...the service is amazing, friendly and professional! I recommend this restaurant in the highest manner. I definitely will keep going back.

Proud to say this is a local eatery. I had one of the best Italian meals I have ever had. The duck agnolotti with tart cherry was wonderfully executed with rich texture and intricate flavor. The Olivia Board, a table antipasto selection, was perfect for four of us. One of us got a shrimp-scampi pizza. The shrimp was like butter. The service was relaxed and attentive. The atmosphere was a bit louder than I would prefer, but the tables were well spaced. The only suggestion I would make is better arrangements for waiting customers. The bar is small and four of us felt a little awkward as we waited to be seated standing in a busy area. However, the great food and staff far overshadowed that minor inconvenience.

We took our neighbors here tonight, all of us for the first visit, and Olivia's exceeded our expectations! So great to have a place like this in Nonantum, which I must say has certainly ramped up in culinary choices in the last few years. Our server was extremely good, and she made our visit especially memorable by replenishing my glass of wine (and then the rest of is as well) after I clumsily knocked it off the table during animated conversation. Now that's really classy (her, not me lol). Our food choices didn't disappoint. I chose the squid ink pasta, which was full of calamari and shrimp, on a bed of perfectly done (and nicely spicy) pasta. Loved it. One of our party had the lamb shank, which was superb. My wife said her duck breast (the night's special) was good, but not exceptional, preferring my pasta. For dessert we shared the limoncello cheesecake, which was fantastic.I highly recommend Olivia's as a nice change of pace from other Newton restaurants. See attached pictures!

Amazing staff and you wont be disappointed by the menu selection, something for everyone.

Fish was delish, pan-seared swordfish over summer succotash. Veal was light, paired with arugula salad. Finished it off with an Affogato - a treat of espresso over gelato. Looking forward to trying the pizza and pasta, using DePasquales sausage, made local, literally around the corner. Can't open an Italian restaurant in The Lake, Nonantum Village of Newton, and not deliver, and Olivia's meets all expectations. Kind, friendly service, too.

I think owned by the same people as West Street. Always busy. Had dinner at the bar. Was very good. Nice to have different options in the neighborhood.

Lovely neighborhood bistro. A recent discovery for it is not our neighborhood. Tasteful interior, great staff, reasonable wine selection, free and easy parking (municipal parking across the street). The cuisine could be better.

Lovely restaurant and excellent food and service

My husband and I have gone get a few times and we have been pleased. Our last time was only alright and my husband's stake tasted like it was refired.

Great dinner - always busy

Excellent spot in Newton! Food was excellent, drinks were strong and delicious, and the service was kind. We enjoyed the beet salad, bruschetta, tagliatelle with mushrooms, and the squid ink pasta. All of the dishes had great flavor and the portions were generous for the price. The ambiance was very nice and there were some great off-menu specials offered! Overall a great experience, perfect for date night or a celebration dinner.
